Review
James Beard Award-Winning Chef Sean Brock opened a Savannah branch of his Husk restaurants to great acclaim, offering upscale versions of classic lowcountry food that have won him such plaudits a couple hours north.
Seafood dominates the starters, from lowcountry seafood tower to oysters to sashimi but there are also options both upscale (chicken liver pate or grilled lettuces) and down home (pimento cheese profiteroles).
For supper expect to see dishes like a pork tenderloin or chop, quail, steak, and some additional seafood options, all done with a southern twang to kick things up a notch or three.
Don’t miss the side of house made cornbread, served in a cast-iron skillet. Yum.
The food here tries a little too hard to be “unique” but it’s hard to argue with the quality, the flavor, and the gorgeously restored mansion setting. Just be prepared to pay for the experience.
