Zunzi’s

Review
After more than 16 years in their tiny take-out location on York St., Zunzi’s has moved to bigger digs around the corner in a beautifully converted old gas station that pulls double duty. Part of it is the good old Zunzi’s you know and love and part of it is Zunzibar, a festive cocktail space operating as a co-venture with the folks who do Treylor Park. With both indoor and outdoor spaces, this is a much better place now for a hang instead of just grabbing your food and going.
The star here is a sandwich called The Conquistador, which the Travel Channel called the best sandwich in the south. Hard to argue. Tender chunks of chicken, lettuce, tomato, and their signature “Shit Yeah!” sauce plus dressing – it’s divine.
The rest of the menu is South African influenced, with sandwiches, wraps, bowls, and salads stuffed with options like curry chicken salad, boerewors sausage, frikkadel (vegan “meatballs”), and more. You can also do any of their proteins and sides like mashed potatoes and roasted veggies in family size tubs.
The food is fantastic, the prices are more than fair, and the cocktails are strong so you really have no excuse not to visit!
