1540 Room

After a complete post-Covid overhaul, the 1540 Room at the Drayton hotel opened to much fanfare and deservedly so.
The room is gorgeous – high ceilings, white walls and furniture, pops of color. and big windows giving it an open, spacious, and decidedly upscale feel.
When they first re-opened, the menu was sort of a hybrid of low-country favorites and Mediterranean/Turkish/Moroccan dishes to mix things up. A lot of the latter has disappeared, but you’ll still find some fun things like baba ghanoush with fresh pita and merguez, a lamb sausage and coucous dish. Both are absolutely worth your time and attention.
But if you go for the more safe Georgia shrimp and rice or pork chop style dishes, you won’t be disappointed.
It’s not cheap but it’s not as expensive as you’d expect a place like this to be. Great service, too!
