Review

There are a variety of reasons to love this elegant (yet still casual) fine dining experience, but let’s start with the mansion in which it lives.  Dating back to 1888, the grand manor is stunning both inside and out, with a majestic brick edifce, turrets, gracefully arched windows, and luxurious rooms restored to their original glory.  There are several historic homes in which you can dine in Savannah, but this is probably the most grand of them.  Although they keep things casual for guests of the adjoining hotel, it feels special to eat here.

The dinner menu features some southern inspired treats like tomato pie dip, zuchinni hushpuppies, and fried green tomatoes followed by salads and relatively short list of entrees that include everything from a burger and a fried chicken sandwich to salmon and a NY strip steak.  Lunch drops the steaks in favor of a couple of additional sandwiches and wraps and breakfast has eggs, hash, French toast, and chicken and waffles.

Everything here is very well done, and while it may not reach epicurean award-winning heights, it is more than satisfying and worthy of the surroundings.

Prices are not as high as you’d expect them to be in this kind of restaurant.  You can do breakfast and lunch for under $20 before tax and tip and dinner under $50.  Not cheap, but definitely worth it for the experience.
