Review

The mantle of “best restaurant in Savannah” gets passed around a lot, so if you see it ascribed to other places on this site it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pay attention when it gets applied to this one also.

After a decade of running a restaurant in Chicago, Chef Andrew Brochu relocated to Savannah and opened delightful little space in the Starland District. It’s a warm and homey room, that lives up to the “Family” part of the restaurant’s name.

There is a big selection of oysters, some fun and delicious “snacks” (the cheddar rillette, a big puffy bread with giardiniera is a must), a few salads, fish, and sandwiches, but what you really want to pay attention to is the chicken.  Their fried chicken is probably the best in town and you can get it by itself or on a huge family-style platter that also features charred chicken breast and chicken salad, biscuits, and more.  It’ll easily feed two and even three if you’re not big eaters.

This is absolutely worth the quick Uber ride from the Historic District.  Hint… the entrance is on 40th Street, around the corner from the 2400 Bull St. address that Google Maps will take you to.
