Review

As a part of the upscale, game-changing Plant Riverside District, it’s no surprise that this contemporary take on the classic steakhouse model breaks the mold for Savannah dining.

The room is gorgeous, a modern interpretation of the clubhouse steak joint with a deep green color scheme and dark woods accented by eclectic light fixtures and industrial touches including exposed brick and steel support beams.

The menu is fairly traditional – oysters, crab legs, and steak tartare for appetizers; a variety of beef cuts from filet to Australian Wagyu; a few other entrees including chicken and a burger; and the usual suspect sides and accompaniments.  The presentation and the preparation are impeccable – this is good food done very well.  The steaks are juicy and flavorful with a nice smoky and salty char, the burger is a divine mess dripping with cheese and grilled onions, and the blue cheese fondue that you can add to your steak is so rich it almost hurts.

The upscale vibe and fine dining experience are different enough for Savannah but where you really get the mold-breaking part is in the prices.  This is probably the most expensive restaurant in town, with ala carte steaks ranging from $40 to $125, sides $10-$13, appetizers from $16 and up, and drinks, desserts, and everything else in Los Angeles or Vegas pricing territories.  You can do it for cheaper, but with a cocktail, meal, dessert, tax, and tip it’s very easy to go way over $100 per person.

Is it worth it?  The food, ambience, service, and overall experience is top notch – the kind of place that would probably be even more expensive in a bigger city.  Consider it a special occasion night on the town and it’ll make the bill you get at the end a little less painful.
