Review

It’s funny how a seemingly ordinary greasy spoon like this one can become famous, a draw for people all over the world and make it on to all sorts of top 10, best of, and award lists.  Someone even said they had the best breakfasts in America.  This has turned The Breakfast Club into one of the most popular destinations for your morning cravings anywhere in the Savannah area.

It’s located on Tybee Island, about 20 miles east of Downtown Savannah, about a block from the pier on the south end of the island.  It’s completely unexceptional – a plain white block building on the outside with a counter and a handful of booths inside – and you might miss it if it weren’t for the long line of people that is usually waiting to get in.  Seriously, this place almost always has a line, especially on weekends.  Pro tip: go as early as you can possibly rouse yourself out of bed on a Saturday morning while everyone else is dealing with their hangover and you should be able to get seated pretty quickly.

Per the name, breakfast is the specialty here with eggs, waffles, French toast, and omelettes taking up the bulk of the menu.   Most of it is pretty standard morning fare but they have a few notable items like a Popeye omelette (think: spinach) and their very popular Blackhawk burrito, which comes with housemade chorizo, onions, black beans, and jalapenos on a cheddar jalapeno tortilla.  They also have burgers and a few sandwiches, breakfast and otherwise.

Everything here is exactly what you’d expect it to be – flavorful, hearty, more than satisfying.  Best breakfasts in America?  Well…
