Review

The historic Marshall House hotel, where this charming bistro is located, was a hospital for yellow fever victims in the 1800s and is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Savannah.  Do you need to worry about poltergeists stealing your silverware during dinner?  Probably not, but even if they do you might be too busy enjoying the food to really care.

The southen tinged menu is short – a handful of appetizers like fried green tomatoes or shrimp and grits; a couple of hearty salads; and a half-dozen entrees including steak, fish, chicken, and more.  The filet is nothing short of perfect, the “Duck Two Ways” is a delight, and the even the simple tuna carpaccio appetizer will tantalize the taste buds and act as a main course if you want it that way.

This is not a cheap restaurant by any stretch of the imagination.  Main courses run roughly $30 to $50 but they all come with veggies or other sides and there are more you can add if you’re feeling especially hungry.  But the food is fantastic as is the sun-dappled ambiance and the attentive service.  Highly recommended.
