Review

The first thing you need to know about B. Matthew’s is that it is very popular – make a reservation.  If you just show up, you might get a table but it’ll probably be a pretty long wait.

Once you do make it inside, the room is stunning – dark wood, exposed brick, and industrial touches about giving it a distinctive feel.  It’s casual but feels like a cut above the typical eatery.

The food does, also.  The menu has a decided southern slant to it, with regional favorites like shrimp and grits or biscuits and gravy for breakfast, a fried green tomato and pimento cheese or fried fish sandwich for lunch, and a low country shrimp and sausage bowl or pulled pork mac and cheese for main courses.  But in between the yeehaw yummies you’ll find some lovely, fresh salads, omelettes and French toast, burgers and Cuban sandwiches, and more, giving things an eclectic but satisfying feeling.

Service can be a little slow when they are busy but the food makes up for it.
